Tapas Brasileiras Cinco (#5)

As you've probably noticed via my blogs, Brazilians love their food; as do I!  Here are couple of informational morsels shared with me by my Brazilian friends.

=> Cream cheese and guava paste are a favorite combination of flavors.  I was told that these 2 foods go together exceptionally well.  This leads to the term Romeu e Julieta (Romeo & Juliet) when you pair up a slice of cream cheese with a slice of guava on top.

=> Thirty or more years ago, prior to the fragmentation and loss of the cerrado, there were scores of naturally occurring, common fruits that were enjoyed by the people of Minas Gerais.  Today, in an effort to raise awareness of the cerrado's plight and these delectable fruits, many different companies are making picolés (popsicles) from these native fruits.  The names are too numerous to mention, but the pictures below give you an idea of the variety.  (There is even one made from avocado.  I haven't tasted that flavor... Yet.)

  1. Hi Joel - found the spot! Loved reading about your adventures, and how cool is it to meet IBM'ers from around the world, all focused on a common goal. Say hello to the interns from one of your 'gang' from the US that is impressed with their accomplishments also! Corey...

  2. Love your photographs and reading about the food too. I hope to read a report on the Avocado popsicles next time! That young man is certainly talented with the leaf lined with LED lights.
