11 Countries Are Now Represented

The entire 15 person IBM team has finally arrived at the hotel in Uberlandia.  Our next 2 weekend days will be dedicated to team building, getting to know our adopted city, and understanding what is expected of us.  The partnership with JP Morgan Chase (JPMC) also begins today.  We have a full itinerary planned on Saturday, 9/7 including the following:

  • Walking tour of the neighborhood.  (Larissa, our local CDS consultant, will personally share her perspective of her home city.  She works & lives in Uberlandia.)
  • Attend Uberlandia’s large fair & exposition: Camaru 2013:  Sindicato Rural de Uberlandia.  (2013 is the 50th anniversary of this event.)
  • Listen to some Brazilian “country” music from Cristiano Araujo during a live concert (which our guides expected to start at about 11:00PM.)

Lunch is typically a Brazilian’s largest meal of the day.   When in Brazil, do as Brazilians do!  Our entire 19 person IBM and JPMC team, along with our 4 local program managers and facilitators, stopped for a big meal prior to finishing our tour.  The portions were large and the food was flavorful.  My tilapia dish reminded me of how it was prepared back in Tampa.  After our meal, we returned to the hotel to recharge and prepare ourselves for a full agenda of events at Camaru 2013.

After a brief bus ride, we arrived at the local park (at about 7PM) to partake in the nights' events. During our 5 hours at Camaru 2013, we met local dignitaries from the city & the Presidente do Sindicata Rural de Uberlandia , sampled local foods (which were all harvested and prepared by local farmers), were awed by several dances from a local indigenous tribe (from northeastern brazil), enjoyed viewing some local arts & crafts, and we took in some of the live concert; (some stayed a lot longer than others.)

After a long day, the bus pulled up to the hotel a couple of minutes before midnight.

Please stay with me via this blog as I continue my CSC journey.  Your blog comments are always welcome.

Tchau!  (This is a common way to say goodbye in Portuguese.)
