Tuesday, 10/1/13:
Today, the entire CSC Team participated in a community
event. Many weeks ago, Toni (Ipe’s
President) and several other NGO leaders, approached the extended team of CSC
consultants and asked them if the entire CSC Team could spend a ½ day painting a local NGO. The logistics were finalized and for weeks,
we have had Tuesday, 10/1 (8AM – Noon) circled on our collective calendars.
Getting an earlier start (we had to be in the lobby ready to
go at 7:45AM BST) meant that many of us would have to amend our dinner and
sleep habits on Monday night. Most of
the NGOs start their days at 8:45 – 9:00, so each team usually gets picked up
between 8:30 & 8:45.
Prior to arriving at Estação Vida, we really didn’t know
much about this NGO. All we really knew
is that we would be doing a lot of painting.
When we arrived, we were given a tour by the director. She explained in great detail how this NGO
provides a valuable service to parents and children alike. In Brazil, children go to school M –
F, but their school session will either be in the morning or in the
afternoon. Many parents need a place for
their children to stay while they are at work.
Estação Vida provides this service to the community.

If “A picture is worth a thousand words”, then maybe the
following photos, that capture the spirit of our day, will be worth at least
several thousand words.

Our tour guide showed us all elements of Estação Vida:

We were all genuinely moved by the morning's activities and our surroundings.
